Paintings in Nejakarto Gallery, Kerang

she's coming along...

Finally got back into the studio today....had a strange morning just painting over and over but getting nowhere, then after a break and some tea, had another go at it after lunch and did some good work with her skintones...think I'm just about done there, need to think about hair, finish the nose (it's a bit crooked now :( but not too bad) and do the eyes and finish the lips and .....whoops I gotta skype call...back soon!

Had a lovely chat with Nat & Subash
(you can see some of Nat's work here: www.nataliesingh.blogspot.com/)

she looks better upside down,.....!

Subash gave me some good tips and feedback about my crooked face... LOL :o) I know I need more practice....not enough hours in the day....wish I could just paint alllllll day!

 Water study - Reflections

Some sketches...

learning how to do the bits - eyes, nose, lips etc. not concerned with the whole picture at this stage, or proportions, just playing with the features and trying to work out how to draw them first...

Painting again!

After looking at my empty (well almost empty...) canvas for over a month, I finally went into my art-room today and started to paint again! Yippee!!!!!! :o) and I feel so much better already! [Congreatulations Susi B!!!]
I was feeling like I was beginning to slip into an uncomfortable position of avoiding things, watching TV, and starting to feel lazy and unproductive and just awful...and I was really needing something to kick me into action.......when all i really had to do was walk into my art-room and start!
Well, that's what i did today, I just walked in there and started, no excuses, no fear, no anxiety - just picked up the brushes and paint and got going.....and the best part was that I consciously started to trust myself and experiment with colours; trying to get a good base colour for the skin tones and shading, literally by just putting the paint on the canvas and mixing it as I go and just going with it.....I took a few photos along the way to compare and see what it looked like (I find I can get a better idea of what to do if I see the images on the camera, and of course, eventually on the computer!)

I'll load up a few shots here...

and I'll keep you posted....

The Sketchbook Project...

I just found out about the sketchbook project....far-out!!!
Artists (or anyone who's into sketchbooks...) from around the world unite in the sketchbook project and share their work with others via a sketchbook/gallery tour through the United States!! All you need to do if you want to participate is pick a theme, pay the fee, and wait in anticipation for your sketchbook to arrive!!!!!

If you want to find out more about this great idea just click on the picture above...and maybe you'll be inspired to join in!
